Discovery Centre construction work goes out to tender

The contract for construction of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve’s new Discovery Centre has gone out to tender.

The building, designed by leading architects Simpson & Brown, received full planning permission from Rother District Council in November 2017. Since then, Sussex Wildlife Trust has been working with its team of architects, project managers, mechanical and engineering consultants and construction engineering consultants to refine details of the designs ready for the contract tendering process.

After an initial sift, four construction firms have been invited to prepare a full tender for the contract for the building work, which is expected to cost in the region of £2.5m.

Tendering firms will be subject to a detailed process including presentations and interviews by the project team before deciding which is the most suitable firm to deliver the build programme. Announcement of the decision and award of the contract is due in late September.
